Findings of the symposium on PFAS in food and feed in a nutshell

Oct 2023. From September 10-14, Dioxin 2023, the 43rd International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), was held in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The event aimed to examine POPs from a broad perspective, with particular attention to issues such as global pollution. As such, per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS), which are among the POPs, were a particular focus of the event. These are increasingly coming into the spotlight because the large number of chemical compounds and their fields of application result in a large number of entry pathways and transport routes of PFAS into the environment. From there, they reach humans via the food chain.
